3 Abreast Racing at Topless Night

                The 2nd Annual “Topless 100” at Merritt Speedway provided fans with an exciting mix of close 2, 3 and sometimes 4 wide racing as they had a good view into the drivers compartment when these topless racecars flow by! Justin McNeill of Houghton Lake won his first Super Late Model feature at Merritt Speedway in the 40 lap event running a line on the track that has been referred to as “high, wide and handsome”. In other feature action Mark Kurth of Gaylord won in UMP Modified division, Ian Knoettzer of Gladwin was victorious in the Pro Trucks, Kevin Crawford Sr. of Clare dominated in the Sportsman ranks and John Matthews of Houghton Lake took the checkers in Jimmy’s Collision Repair Center Factory Stocks feature event.

                In other UMP Super Late Model competition, Adam Thursh of Mt. Pleasant won the Dash and Heat 1, Josh Knoll of Barryton took Heat 2 and Donnie Marcoullier of Houghton Lake won Heat 3. During UMP Modified action Kurth won the Dash and Heat 2, Larry Cade of Buckley was victorious in Heat 1, Heat 3 went to Bob Baldwin of Petoskey and Chuck Powell of Harrison won the B Semi Main. In other Pro Truck events Dick Stout of Prudenville won the Dash, Heat 1 was wonby Bob Hammar and Heat 2 went to Adam Brinks, both of Cadillac. Sportsman Heat 1 went to Crawford Sr., Heat 2 was won by David Mielke of Gladwin and Mike Higdon of Fife Lake won the Factory Stock Heat. 

                June 27th will be the return of the Outlaw Late Models to Merritt Speedway, these machines allow the drivers to turn the track in under 12 seconds reaching  speeds well over 100 mph., so come on out, see ya at the RACES!
